Abby Hansen, BA

Abby Hansen, BA

Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT)™ - Counselor Intern

Abby will graduate with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Transpersonal Art Therapy from Naropa University in May 2017.  She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Art Therapy from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. Abby has been working with those struggling with eating disorders for the past 5 years in various residential and inpatient settings in both Denver, CO and Philadelphia, PA. She has a true passion for serving this population, specifically in how art can be a mechanism for change. In many ways an eating disorder is a metaphor for the hardships and scars one has accumulated over a lifetime. Art can provide that metaphorical container for this pain, and assist in the recovery process. Abby’s theoretical orientations include humanistic, transpersonal, and feminist perspectives. She has a dedicated art making practice that is an important part of her life. Abby can add contemplative practices as part of the therapeutic process. She is inspired to guide clients to access their inner knowing, with both art and talk therapy.

“I look forward to guiding you
to develop a deeper connection with
your innate wisdom and insight.

Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT)™ - Counselor Intern

Kristen will graduate with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University in May 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography and Sociology from the University of Redlands, in Southern California. Kristen has been working as a wilderness guide and leader for the last 5 years. Her work as an outdoor professional includes group team building programs featuring week long hiking and rock climbing courses, throughout California, Hawaii, and Central America. Kristen now integrates her knowledge of the the outdoor world to the therapeutic process. She believes that experiences in the outdoors are the key to transformative healing – which helped her overcome her own eating disorder. Through her talk therapy and wilderness work with clients, she hopes to improve body image, enhance self-confidence, and expand personal freedom through breaking the constraints of previous barriers and fears. When Kristen is not at Positive Pathways, you’ll probably find her in the mountains with a pair of skis or hiking boots.

“Through exploration and adventure of the self,
I hope to guide you down a trail that leads to
connection and transformation of body and soul.
